The plaster pilasters are used to decorate walls and to trim doors, windows and mirrors.
The plaster pilasters are also used in plaster fireplaces, together with cornices that serve as mantelshelf. They also cover both the front and depth of doorways, used in combination with architrave cornices. Plaster pilasters take up less room than columns and can thus are a great solution when space is at a premium. They help provide greater balance and harmony when decorating large walls.
